49ers RB Lawrence Phillips burst through a gaping hole in the Cardinals' line and raced 68 yards for a touchdown with 1:42 left in the fourth quarter, giving San Francisco a 14-point edge. 49ers S Lance Schulters had his second straight big game, making six tackles and coming up with a key interception and return that set up San Francisco's second score. 49ers (2-1) vs. Titans (3-0).

The Broncos failed to pick up a first down on either of their two drives in the final 4:08. Both possessions were derailed by sacks, and the final march ended when Brian Griese's pass for Rod Smith fell incomplete on fourth-and-14 from the Broncos' 11 with 1:35 left. The Bucs defense. The NFL's top-ranked defense dominated the world champs, holding them to 173 total yards. Broncos RB Terrell Davis was limited to 53 yards on 19 carries, and Tampa Bay had an interception and two sacks of Griese. Bucs (2-1) at Vikings (1-2).

Packers QB Brett Favre got his hands on the ball with 1:51 left and Green Bay trailing by four points. That was more than enough time for Favre to lead a seven-play, 77-yard drive that culminated in his 23-yard TD pass to Corey Bradford with 12 seconds left. Who else could it be? Favre led his second magical drive in three weeks. He completed six of seven passes on the march and delivered a perfect pass on the game-winner. With John Elway retired, Favre has now taken the mantle as the game's best comeback QB. Packers (2-1) bye.

Titans CB Samari Rolle jumped in front of Jaguars WR Keenan McCardell and intercepted Mark Brunell's end-zone pass with 57 seconds remaining. Rolle's pick spoiled what appeared to be a drive for the game-winning TD for Jacksonville. Titans QB Neil O'Donnell. Filling in for the injured Steve McNair, O'Donnell proved he's still a capable starter. He completed 17 of 32 passes for 204 yards and two TDs, including the game-winning, 12-yard TD toss to Michael Roan with 3:26 left. Titans (3-0) at 49ers (2-1).

Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe ran out the clock. Bledsoe took a knee twice in the final 1:14 when the Giants -- who had just scored -- had no timeouts left. Bledsoe. New England's QB completed 20 of 28 passes for 233 yards. He picked up 115 of those yards while leading the Pats on three straight field-goal drives in the second half. Redskins FB Larry Centers recovered an onsides kick after the Jets had cut their deficit to six points on John Hall's 34-yard field goal with 1:53 remaining. Washington was able to run out the clock from there. Redskins RB Stephen Davis. The fourth-year pro continued his amazing start in 1999, rushing for 93 yards and three TDs. Davis scored two fourth-quarter TDs and has reached the end zone eight times in three games. Redskins (2-1) vs. Panthers (1-2).

The Rams drove 72 yards in nine plays to make it 35-7 late in the third quarter. Kurt Warner's 5-yard touchdown run knocked the wind out of the Falcons, who had just scored their lone touchdown of the day. Warner. The Rams QB, who became the starter when Trent Green was lost for the season with a knee injury, completed 17 of 25 passes for 275 yards and three TDs. He also rushed for a score. Rams (2-0) at Bengals (0-3).

The Seahawks scored 14 points before their offense had even touched the ball. Merton Hanks' 23-yard interception return for a TD, and Charlie Rogers' 94-yard punt return made it 14-0 just 3:20 into the game. That was more than enough on a day the Steelers threw five interceptions. Seattle's defense and special teams. The Seahawks offense generated only five field goals, but it didn't matter because Pittsburgh was plagued by turnovers and poor field position. Five different Seattle DBs picked off passes, returning them for a combined 81 yards. Seahawks (2-1) vs. Raiders (2-1).

Colts CB Tyrone Poole intercepted Jim Harbaugh's pass at the Indianapolis 7 as time expired. Harbaugh had driven the Chargers 46 yards down to the Colts' 24 in the final 2:34 after Indy went up 27-19. Indianapolis QB Peyton Manning had his best game as a pro, completing 29 of 54 passes for 404 yards and two TDs. Manning broke Johnny Unitas' team passing-yardage record by three yards. Chiefs RB Donnell Bennett's 7-yard TD run, capping a short drive set up by Cris Dishman's interception, gave Kansas City a commanding 31-13 lead with 10:38 left in the game. Raiders QB Rich Gannon, who completed 26 of 35 passes for 295 yards -- including two key third-down completions on the game-winninng drive -- and a pair of touchdowns. Raiders (2-1) at Seahawks (2-1).

Leading 19-0 midway through the third quarter, the Bills drove 60 yards in eight plays for their final score -- a four-yard TD run by Antowain Smith. At that point, any realistic hope of an Eagles comeback faded. Bills K Steve Christie. In a game where one field goal would have been enough to win, Christie kicked four. He went 3-for-3 in the first quarter from distances of 24, 29 and 19 yards. He later added a 36-yarder. Bills (2-1) at Dolphins (2-0).
