The Seahawks defense. Maligned for poor play during the team's four-game losing streak, Seattle's defense forced three turnovers and allowed the Chiefs to sustain only one long scoring drive. Meanwhile, the Jaguars lost QB Mark Brunell to a knee injury late in the second quarter. Titans QB Steve McNair. Criticized for throwing just one TD pass in his last seven games, McNair broke out with the biggest game of his career. He threw a career-high five TD passes and hit 23 of 33 passes for 291 yards. Colts K Mike Vanderjagt booted a 21-yard field goal as time expired. Indianapolis, which trailed by nine points going to the fourth quarter, drove 54 yards in 11 plays for the game-winner. The win helped Indy set an NFL record with its 10-game improvement from last season. Split it between Colts RB Edgerrin James and WR Marvin Harrison. James carried 28 times for 103 yards and three TDs. The rookie also set up the winning kick with a 10-yard catch and 5-yard run. Harrison set a franchise record by catching 14 passes for 138 yards. Colts (13-2) at Bills (10-5).

On a Green Bay first down, Tampa Bay's Damien Robinson intercepted Brett Favre and returned the ball 36 yards to the Green Bay 28-yard line with 7:02 remaining. The Bucs took over and drove for a TD to make it 29-10. Robinson. The Buccaneers safety accounted for three turnovers. His first pick preserved a 6-0 first-half lead, and his second sealed the victory. He also recovered a fumble at the Packers 23 with 11:37 left in the third quarter. Bucs (10-5) at Bears (6-9).

With 325 passing yards and two TDs, he overwhelmed Oakland's defense. He also threw for 28 yards in what ended up being the game-winning drive. Chargers (7-8) at Broncos (6-9).

Vikings RB Robert Smith ripped off a 70-yard TD run just 22 seconds after the Giants had cut their deficit to 28-17. Although a two-point conversion failed, Minnesota had a comfortable 17-point lead with 7:23 left. Vikings WR Cris Carter. Playing despite a badly sprained ankle, Minnesota's team leader had five catches for 131 yards, including a TD catch on a pass from fellow WR Randy Moss. Carter showed he badly he wanted to get this team to the playoffs. Vikings (9-6) vs. Lions (8-7).

Buffalo's Steve Christie kicked a 23-yard field goal with 1:48 remaining in overtime to cap a 10-play, 52 yard drive on Buffalo's second possession of the extra period. Bills QB Doug Flutie. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 212 yards, closed the game with 12 straight completions and had 36 passing yards on the Bills' winning drive. Bills (10-5) vs. Colts (13-2).
