Tuesday, September 19 Tendon injury from Open sidelines Huber
Associated Press
FRANKFURT, Germany -- Germany's Anke Huber has withdrawn
from the Olympics because of a tendon injury in her right arm.
The world's No. 10 was injured during the U.S Open and will need
to rest her right arm for three weeks. The Olympic tennis
tournament begins Sept. 19.
"Anke cannot play in Sydney. Her health takes precedence
here," said German team doctor Walter Knapper.
Huber was Germany's best chance for a tennis medal. Following
the retirement of Boris Becker and Steffi Graf, German tennis has
gone into a steep decline.
