SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK
Archery, Badmintion, Baseball, Basketball, Diving, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Modern Pentathlon, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Track and Field, Volleyball, Water Polo
The main Olympic hub will host 17 sports. Olympic Stadium will seat nearly 110,000 fans and host the opening and closing ceremonies, track and field, soccer (men's finals). The 17,500-seat International Aquatic Center may contain the fastest pool in the world -- 12 world records fell there in a 1999 meet. And the Sydney SuperDome, with 20,000 seats, will host gymnastics and late rounds of basketball.

CITY CENTER
Triathlon
Triathlon is in the Olympics for the first time and will be held with the Sydney skyline, the landmark Opera House and the nearby Harbour Bridge as a backdrop.



RUSHCUTTERS BAY
Sailing
Rushcutters Bay, home of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and host of the famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race, will also be the site of the Olympic sailing competition. The Australians are hopeful of a medal haul in their home waters.



DARLING HARBOUR
Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling
The Sydney Entertainment Centre, the Sydney Exhibition Centre and the Sydney Convention Centre will be hopping throughout the Games -- more events will take place here than anywhere else in the city, including boxing in the 10,000-seat Exhibition Centre.



CENTENNIAL PARK
Cycling, Soccer
The road race starts and ends at the Sydney Football Stadium and moves through an 11.1-mile course. The men will race 13 laps for a total distance of 145.4 miles in approximagely five hours. The seven-lap women's race covers 78.3 miles in approximately three hours. And soccer will be played at Sydney's 42,000-seat football stadium.



BONDI BEACH
Beach Volleyball
Despite some objections by local environmentalists, beach volleyball will go on as scheduled in a 10,000-seat arena constructed on Australia's most famous stretch of sand.



RYDE
Water Polo
The 4,000-seat Ryde Aquatic Centre, recently completed, will host the early rounds of the men's and women's water polo competition.



BANKSTOWN
Track Cycling
The Dunc Gray Velodrome (named for an Australian gold medal winner in the 1932 Games) will seat 6,000 fans.



FAIRFIELD
Mountain Biking
There are few big climbs on the new course in the Sydney suburbs, but spectators will love the venue. More than 20,000 are expected.



CECIL PARK
Shooting
The Sydney International Shooting Centre cost $20 million to build and includes indoor ranges for air rifle, air pistol and moving target disciplines, a 25-meter range, a 50-meter range and finals range, and an outdoor range for the trap and skeet shotgun events.



HORSLEY PARK
Equestrian
A state-of-the-art competition surface isn't all that will greet the horses and riders for the dressage, jumping, steeplechase and cross-country competitions. Most will take place in the 200-acre main facility, but the cross country course winds through 740 acres of countryside.



BLACKTOWN
Baseball, Softball
Baseball and softball figure to be highly competitive in the 2000 Games. The softball stadium will seat 8,000 as the U.S. tries to defend its gold medal. Blacktown will also host some preliminary baseball games.



PENRITH LAKES
Canoe-Kayak (Sprinting)
The spectacular new venue features seating for 5,000 fans and a course that is 1,000 feet long, 10 feet in width and falls 18 feet from start to finish. There will be up to 25 hanging gates to navigate.



BRISBANE
Soccer
Soccer preliminaries and quarterfinals will be played in Brisbane's 40,000-seat Cricket Grounds.



CANBERRA
Soccer
Soccer preliminaries and the semifinals will be played in Canberra's 40,000-seat Bruce Stadium.



MELBOURNE
Soccer
Soccer preliminaries, quarterfinals and semifinals will be played in Melbourne's massive 98,000-seat Cricket Ground.

ADELAIDE
Soccer
Soccer preliminaries and quarterfinals will be played in Adelaide's 20,000-seat Hindmarsh Stadium.
