Wednesday, April 17 Updated: April 29, 5:26 PM ET Goalies: Montreal vs. Boston By Darren Pang Special to ESPN.com Jose Theodore, Montreal Canadiens
His hands: He catches with the wrong one, but other than that has tremendous quickness. He's the best little goalie in Montreal since Rogie Vachon. His feet: His lateral movement is as good as anyone's. He's typical of the new breed of goalie -- he can explode with his push off, even while on one knee. His stick: He transitions easily into handling and shooting the puck, although it seems his defense would rather have it behind the net to set up shop. He's not a big pokechecker and plays more conservative. His technique: He has a tight, compact stance that gives the shooter reason to believe there is more room than there is -- he gives it, then takes it away.
Byron Dafoe, Boston Bruins
His hands: He keeps his gloves out front, leaving an opening on the glove side before he fires it out to grab the puck. He has a tendency to push the puck in front (and into danger) when it's on his blocker side. His feet: He's got a wide butterfly/lean/half-butterfly style that can cover a lot of area. When he is square, they are in perfect position. His stick: He keeps his puckhandling simple and shouldn't be underestimated when it comes to pokechecking. His technique: He is a hybrid of sorts and doesn't really come at shooters with one particular style. He covers the net with unpredictable moves.
