EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Jeff Williams scored twice and fellow rookie Scott Gomez contributed two assists, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 4-2 exhibition victory over the weary Philadelphia Flyers.

Williams sparked a three-goal second period at 6:58, lifting the Devils into a 1-1 tie just 52 seconds after Roman Vopat scored his first of two goals for Philadelphia.

Gomez set up Williams' tally and also assisted on Eric Bertrand's go-ahead goal at 9:03. Bobby Holik made it 3-1 with 6 1/2 minutes to go in the period before Vopat scored again in the final minute.

Williams added an empty-netter with 55 seconds remaining in the third period for New Jersey, which got 21 saves from Martin Brodeur and improved to 5-2 in exhibition play.

Rookie Brian Boucher stopped 22 shots for the Flyers, who rested superstars Eric Lindros and John LeClair while playing six games in as many days.
