Giving my wife some credit

By Scott Pellerin
Special to ESPN.com

Throughout Minnesota's inaugural training camp, Scott Pellerin will give ESPN.com users an up-close look at the Wild. Pellerin, a seven-year NHL veteran who might be the team's first captain, checks in with Diary No. 8 -- visiting the Mall of America and ... moving stinks.

If you want to ask Pellerin a question or send him a comment, click here. When Pellerin finds some time between skating, naps and his family he'll try to answer a few of the best ones.

We had a great practice Friday and a busy afternoon. We found a gym in the area that we can work out at, and my daughter can take swimming lessons.

We had our home in St. Louis packed up and not being there was kind of unsettling. We had some of our friends go to the house and supervise the move. I don't know what we would have done without their help. My wife Jennifer is coordinating the move, and I don't know how she does it. I am gone most of the day, and she has been dealing with everyone. She does so much for our family, and I don't know what I would do with out her.

I woke up rested, but my back was sore. I had to deal with traffic again this morning, but I found a good shortcut. We had fun at practice. Coach Lemaire's ice drills are very game-like and always have a purpose. You really have to pay attention during practice, so you don't screw up the drills -- so far so good for me!

The coaches changed the lines again as we get closer to our first exhibition game. We are all trying to find that chemistry as linemates -- it's so hard to find. There are seven lines left at camp, and we are all under a microscope every second. They even videotaped our practice. I don't know what they were looking for, but it's all there on tape!

I got back to the hotel, and we decided that we were going to go to the mall ... not just any mall but the Mall of America. I cannot begin to describe the enormous size and huge number of stores it has. I talked with some people, and they said it can take three hours just to walk around and that's not even to shop. We grabbed a map and set out to get what we needed. I had to get a shirt and tie for our upcoming games. All my suits and shirts are on a moving truck, and I have to leave before the movers get here.

We have the day off Saturday, and we organized a team lunch and golf outing for the afternoon. It should be fun and relaxing to get away from the pressure of the ice, but with the number of good golfers we have and how competitive we are, I am sure there won't be to many gimmies out there.

Jennifer and I were able to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics on television, and and they were great. I couldn't begin to imagine what it would be like to be there. The athletes train for years and for some it will be decided by one-hundredth of a second -- and that could determine the outcome of all their dedicated hard work.

We are going to try and sleep in on Saturday ... I hope my daughter feels the same way!
