Users respond to ESPN.com's Bottom 10

ESPN.com

Tulsa remains a strong No. 1 spot in the Bottom 10 poll after a 33-43 loss to Kansas. With 3-1 Boise State next, things don't look good for a win. Wyoming, and those uniforms, are holding strong in the No. 2 position.

But the most surprising entry is Nebraska, who occupies the No. 5 spot. The Cornhuskers and their fans, who used to the Top 25 not the Bottom 10, sounded off in record numbers.

Here's what you had to say about the week seven rankings:

The Sound and the Fury

Nebraska at No. 5? This list is now a complete joke. Iowa St. spends 10 years trying to beat them and finally do it. The Huskers lose to two ranked teams and now they're in the top five of the Bottom 10? Give me a break. When you're arguably the best college football program over the past decade, everybody is out to get you. I guess being in the top 25 for 21 years isn't good enough when you lose two in a row. I suppose next we're gonna see their Nov. 9 game with Kansas labeled as the Pillow Fight of the Week. Why don't you look a little further north to Michigan "I'm a choking dog" State?

J. Brown
Waco, Texas

Well ok, Nebraska is going through a rebuilding year, we all know that. But should you slap them in the face, casting them down with such pitiful teams like UTEP, Wyoming, and Tulsa? Surely you jest. Every team goes through a few rough times here and there, look at Florida State last year (though I'm sure you'd never dream of putting them in the Bottom 10, would you?) The fact is that every single team still respects Nebraska. They do not deserve to be the object of a joke due to two losses, on the road, to very pumped up and quality teams. Think about it.

Tyson O.
Fort Collins, Colo.

I have heard you all say Nebraska could not win since the 1980's. Three national titles in the 1990's did not stop your rhetoric. Now, you all have Nebraska ranked in the bottom ten! That is flat out stupid!

James Crable
Nebraska

I'll bet you never played football. I'll bet you picked the Gators over NU. I'll bet deep down inside you resent big strong lineman knocking guys off the football for 5 or 6 yards a gain because when you were in grade school you got your butts kicked on the sandlot.

NU dominated the 70's and 90's. Didn't do too bad in the 80's. Taught the world that power football isn't dead.

Dr. Tom who had the backbone to go for two (you probably wouldn't have) might advise it's the journey (committed to Excellence), not Wins and Losses that count.

Your list and NU's inclusion on it demonstrates your lack of Excellence.

Give a simpleton a vote and see what happens, So much for profesional credentials and unbiased opinions from ESPN. Even when the Huskers were ranked in the past ten years your biased network downplayed every victory. And now that the Huskers have reached a crossroads in their storied program, You shovel out this childish drivel.. If you hacks are still bitter about last years title game, go kick a computer. Don't blame the Huskers. And when Big Red does come back in the upcoming years don't come to Nebraska for game day. While we Husker fans may applaud the opposition win or lose, we have long memories and have no problem heckling "so called" journalists and former 'coaches' with .378 winning percentages.
You sirs are "the Cancer."

On the other hand ...

Nebraska is finally in a top ten poll they deserve to be in!!!

Seeing Nebraska in the bottom 10 just made my week. Thanks ESPN!

Growing up in Nebraska, and being a lifelong Husker fan, I can make an arguement that Nebraska should be #1 in the bottom 10. Did they forget they had an I Back?

Ed Thiel
Indianapolis, Ind.

It's bit harsh to put the Huskers in the bottom 10, but I would have to agree. I'm a lifelong Husker fan and expected an 8-5 record this year, but the last two games performances were pitiful beyond my wildest expectations. Hope they were red pants for the next away game and at least they may look like the Huskers of old.

Still the one

When does basketball season start? After witnessing the 'pillow fight of the week' last weekend, I am almost convinced that the Golden Hurricane basketball team could put on pads and beat these guys. Im scared as to what will happen when TU plays UTEP later in October. We may witness history, folks.

Bill Moyers
Tulsa, Okla.

Back where we belong

Thank you for putting us back where we belong. We look forward to being here for longer than one week this time around. Let's hear it for UTEP-which stands for Unlimited Touchdowns and Extra Points.

Michael Hill
St. Petersburg, Fla.

OK, we admit it

I thought you guys were kinda hard on Middle Tennessee State last week. Please accept my apologies for doubting. After losing to SE Missouri State, the Blue Raiders are simply blue.

But they're STILL better than SMU!

Terry Doernner
Charleston, S.C.

It's about time you saw Middle Tennessee for the losers they are. They are all talk and no action as you can see by their 0-4 record and loss to D-1AA SEMO. And their fans were talking a 3-1 SEC record this season. HA!!

Fernando Diggs
Nashville, Tenn.

Bombs away

For the second week in a row, the Bottom 10 has left the Middies off of the list. Now I know that having two service academies on the Bottom 10 would just devastate our country, look at Navy's last two losses: 49-40 to the Northwestern Mildcats and 43-17 to Duke, not mentioning 9 turnovers in those two games. Come on, they have to be a strong Bottom 10 contender.

Jason Doyle

Only fourth? c'mon, guys. It takes a uniquely bad team to outgain the other team by almost a hundred yards, force two lost fumbles, give up no sacks, force the other team to punt four times, and still lose the game by THREE touchdowns. Tulsa? bring 'em on. We'll show you who the rightful owner of that number one spot is.

Cynical Cadet

I would like to thank ESPN for putting the Army team where they belong. The only thing I got from this week's mandatory game was a bad sunburn and sore feet from being forced to stand up. I say bring on Navy... that's the only game that counts.

Cadet Why Me

No Fair! Army is playng East Carolina, which should be the Pillow Fight of the Week.

Throw us a bone here!

Cowboy cool

Wyoming's uniforms are WAY better than they used to be - the prairie gold looks much better than the old scheme (brown and yellow - blech!).

The problem is the white helmets. Imagine the same uniform but with gold helmets that match the gold pants. Not too shabby, eh?

Matt
Laramie, Wyo.

A loss to The Citadel this weekend will surely bump the Pokies into the No. 1 spot. Not unless Tulsa loses to BYE (Who's favored?). Maybe Wyoming and Tulsa can meet in the 0 and 12 Bowl at seasons end we can have an Undisputed No. 1.

Hurtin Pokefan
Casper, Wyo.

All I can say about this week in college football is thank God it was a bye week for Wyoming. All of us Cowboy fans could finally come out of hiding, even if it is only for a week. I came out to get supplies for my cave for the rest of the season.

Zack Warner
Laramie, Wyo.

And the nominees are ...

Don't let come-from-behind wins over a I-AA school, William and Mary, and a MAC lacky, Central Michigan, fool you, the Hoosiers of Indiana are bottom 10 material. Turnover-prone offense plus still horrible defense equals one bad football team. Saturday's 30+ point thrashing at the hands of Ohio State was a crystal ball of things to come in the Big 10 campaign. Look for 0-8 for the Hoosiers in conference (yes, they will lose to Northwestern) and a their first ranking since this IU alum can't remember when.

Andrew Teel
Williamsburg, Va.

How can Buffalo not even get a mention this week? I watched them let OHIO UNIVERSITY (who averages 66 yards passing a game, losers of 10 straight) drive the length of the field to kick a field goal and beat them. I though OU was terrible but Buffalo has to be the worst D1 football team in America to lose this one. Give the Bulls some love, they work hard to be this bad!

Ryan Harding
Dover, Ohio

Rice University's Marching Owl Band aka "The MOB" opened the 2002 season with halftime show called "A Salute to Zero". It was a slap at the University of Houston 2001 season of 0-11.

Now it looks like they knew what the future held for the poor Owls.

Chris Vaughan
Missouri City, Texas

Where's Mississippi State on your list? The Bulldogs are one of the most truly pathetic teams I have ever seen in person. They have no discipline whatsoever and can't seem to do one thing right without doing three things wrong to counteract that. Oh yeah, we're also being outscored by 1A teams by an average of 23 PPG. After South Carolina smacks us around this weekend to put us at 1-4, I think we will deserve a shot at the Bottom 10.

Jeff Edwards
Starkville, Miss.

As a die hard U of I fan I am appalled that Illinois has been dropped from the list this week. After getting spanked by Michigan I was hoping to move closer to the top spot.

C.C.

When is UNM going to show up on the Bottom 10 with a Loss to New Mexico State, and a 49-0 Shut out at home on ESPN2 from Texas Tech, I feel they are prime material!!!

RJ
Albuquerque, N.M.

I am a little concerned with the resent departure of Kansas and Baylor from the list of the bottom 10 rankings. This next week these two pathetic football programs square off for what seems will be an intense battle to determine the worst of the worst. I feel that since both of these teams are no longer on the list, due to their suprising wins over Tulsa, this matchup will go un-noticed. It is guaranteed to provide the greatest pillow fight of the week, with the loser of the game gaining full right to last place in the big 12 conference. I feel that this is a match-up that needs to be recognized because of its great importance to the bottom 10 rankings.
