The first weekend full of games meant big changes for the Bottom 10. Duke, a Bottom 10 favorite, upset East Carolina to move not only out of the top spot, but completely out of the ranking.

Here's what you had to say about the week three rankings:

Call of the wild

Number 3, how can Baylor not be #1???? They lost 70-22 to a previously ranked bottom 10 team. They are possibly the worst coached team ever. They'll probably beat Samford this weekend, but that will be their only win of the season. 70-22, good Lord, just wait until they travel to Austin or OU comes to town.

Brian
Austin, Texas

I am a Baylor grad and I can't understand how in the world yall can keep us from being No. 1 in the Bottom 10. There is no way anyone else could get 49 scored on them in the first half by Cal. We will show you this week though, we get Samford at home, after that you will be forced to make us No. 1.

Jared Maier
Garland, Texas

How can Baylor not be the No. 1 Bottom team! It takes a lot of talent (or lack thereof) to make a team that went 1-10 last year look like a national title contender beating on a Division III team.

Justin
Amarillo, Texas

Come on! Baylor is trying sooo hard. Can't we be #1 at something? I guess we'll have to lose to Samford (and Sons) to prove we're the best at being the worst!!

It's not about the money

Could we take the $2.35 million and pay a real coach with a legitimate shot of winning two games a year at Wyoming? Or maybe just promote the strength and conditioning coach again.

Lifetime achievement

I believe my alma mater, Oregon State University, deserves a lifetime achievement award for their profound record of 29 consecutive losing seasons.

Vandy? Duke? Never give-up. The critics said the Beavers would never be competitive. If we can do it, you can too.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah

My beloved Akron Zips were down 37-0 at the end of the first quarter to the Iowa Hawkeyes. How bad is that?

Shay McCullough
Akron, Ohio

Where's Akron? They were the poorest excuse for a college football team I have ever seen. I think Iowa was up 37-0 after one quarter, surely they should be in the Top 5! I think this year they should change names from the Zips to the Zits!

Birthplace of football?

Arkansas State may be as bad as advertised, but how can Rutgers not be at the top of your list?

Let's see... Recruiting in the largest media market in the United States, state school with huge athletic budget, member of one of the top football conferences in the country (the Big East may not be the Big 12, but last I checked the Hurricanes were the reigning national champs and Va. Tech is a solid team), need I go on?

RU is an embarrasment to NJ. Quite ironic that the birthplace of college football is also the location of football death!

Keith S.
Jackson, N.J.

Maybe Rutgers needs to drop to D3 in football. Then again, maybe not because Mount Union would mop up the field with them. There might be a high school team in the USA Today Super 25 that might be able to beat Rutgers also.

Brian
Elizabeth, N.J.

You look mah-velous

Everyone in the south, specifically in Tennessee, knew Vanderbilt was going to be atrocious, but I'm not sure that anyone expected such a beating from Georgia Tech. Any optimism the few (and never so proud) Vandy fans had was gone by halftime. In a few more years, the SEC may end up wanting to kick Vandy out in favor of Middle Tennessee.

And not only did Vandy play like a I-AA school, but they dressed like one. Please, for the love of uniforms, ditch the gold-ish jerseys. They didn't match the gold on the helmets, and were an awful compliment to the black pants.

Gallatin, Tenn.

As a distinguished graduate from Vanderbilt University, I can tell you that this year's Commodore team is not nearly as horrible as those from the recent past.

Brian Johnson
Naples, Italy

And the nominees are ...

Some really bad teams won this weekend. Indiana beat a divsion 1-AA team and celebrated at the end like it had just won the Rose Bowl. By mid-season, IU should be atop this list.

Breck Herber
Aiken, S.C.

Kansas has a football team?

Rob
Overland Park, Kan.

East Carolina--if you lose to the worst team in the country, then you are the worst team. It is even worse when you have the entire off season to prepare for them.

David Martin
Albuquerque, N.M.

Brrrr! After watching Northwestern's performance against the Air Force Academy... How can you possibly rate any team below NW?? They're slow, predictable, and don't execute worth diddly... Besides that, they were horrible! You want to know what's really sad? I couldn't tell if the defense or the offense stunk more!!

Mark Orlicky
Colorado Springs, Colo.

After tying an ACC record for turnovers in a game against mighty Miami (Ohio) I feel UNC has rightfully earned a place in the bottom 10. They loooked like the Bad News Bears. After a trip to Syracuse, which Syracuse, could be joining the bottom 10 soon, then Texas hits Chapel Hill the next week. So UNC can make plans on an extended stay at the Bottom 10 motel.

The local press/advertising has bombarded us with the "NEW SMU" over the last 6 months. New coach Bennett has a radio spot with gutty "I never coach a game that I don't expect to win". After last week's beating at the hands of a Navy squad with one win in the previous two seasons, if this guy coaches another game this year that he 'expects to win', a serious neurological work-up is in order. Most of us here in the Dallas area are screaming for a spot in the bottom ten. With A-Rod in town, the cost of athletes has apparently gotten too high even for SMU.

Bring back Duke!

I see that Duke's streak-ending win got them off the Bottom 10 list. I don't know. I'd still keep them around on the waiting list because I've got a sneaky suspicion that they'll be back there real soon.

Nathan Cox
Columbus, Ohio

Duke lost 23 games in a row and wasn't close in at least 20 of them, yet they win one home game against a bad team and you take them out of the bottom ten? I know that ESPN loves Duke and everything, but c'mon they are still one of the 10 worst!!!

Murray, Ky.
