Tulsa held on to the No. 1 spot in the Bottom 10 poll with a win over Baylor in last week's pillow fight. They face another test this week as Kansas visits. There were other significant moves in this week's poll and, as usual, you had plenty of opinions.

Here's what you had to say about the week six rankings:

What were you thinking?

Putting MTSU on your "waiting" list is a crime. They've lost on the road to three SEC teams that are a combined 9-2. They are going to roll everybody in the Sunbelt and probably beat the crap out of Vanderbilt. Show the Blue Raiders a little respect. How about adding a 2-2 Baylor club with wins over Tulsa (by a narrow 37-25) and freakin' Samford and losses to Cal 70-22 and New Mexico 23-0. Outscored 103-22 by Cal and New Mexico?

Brett
Miami, Fla.

How can you have MTSU on your waiting list as one of the 10 worst teams in the nation? We have played 3 SEC schools very respectfully and lost to Alabama on a terrible call. We got screwed by SEC officials in all three games. Keep in mind we are only in our fourth year in 1-A. Wait to the end of the year when we beat Vandy again and win the Sunbelt. Also, if we are on the waiting list, where is North Texas (pitiful offense), Arkansas St., and the rest of the Sunbelt schools (all just plain pitiful except New Mexico State). We'll be in the Mid-Major top 10 again by year's end.

Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Split decision

Obviously UCF is too good for the MAC. I mean look what they did in Huntington last Friday night. Oh, wait. They lost. Never mind!

Neal Smith
Scott Depot, W.V.

As an ex MAC football player, who knows how tough the conference is. I am very happy to see the inclusion of Central Florida in the Bottom 10. After the "too good for the MAC" comments I hope they lose every MAC game as opposed to going undefeated like they said they should.

Jason Strasser
Pittsburgh, Pa.

Apparently, you haven't watched any of the UCF games this season. Putting them in the Bottom 10 after a 3-point loss to Penn State and a 5-point loss to Marshall is a joke. Look for UCF to finish the season 9-3 and make you look foolish.

Rick Falco
Orlando, Fla.

Central Florida has played ranked Marshall & Penn State to within a touchdown and led vs. Pac 10 Arizona State at the half. All of these games were on the road, which probably makes them the most traveled team in the NCAA. They are still a favorite in the MAC and will likely finish with 7 or 8 wins and an ex.com bowl game. These guys aren't nearly as bad as you think and your penalizing them for a tough non-conference schedule. Shame on you, Bottom 10.

Boston, Mass.

Digging for a spot

Where is UTEP? Do you realize they have been outscored 176-23 against D1-A teams!!!

Jason
Santa Monica, Fla.

How can UTEP disappear so quickly after another team (Hawaii) noshed on the Orange Mush (what the Miners' Defense has been called for years)?

Steve Kunert
Corvallis, Ore.

Let's discuss the UTEP Miners. They have won one game against El Paso Ysleta High School. In the last 3 games against D-1 opponents, they have been outscored 176-23. How can they not be in the bottom 5? Texas is a big enough state to have 3 teams in the bottom 10 (SMU, Baylor and UTEP with Houston knocking!) No Respect!.

Lubbock, Texas

Hang 'em high

I was looking forward to the Pokes not losing this weekend until I saw the line and noticed that the Bye was a 2 TD favorite.

Paul Schulz
Laramie, Wyo.

Interesting that five of your Bottom 10 were NCAA basketball tournament teams -- Wyoming, Tulsa, Kansas, Illinois, and San Diego State. Maybe there's a connection -- a reverse jinx.

You think that this week's pillow fight of the week is bad, wait until next week. My Cowboys take on The Citadel, who isn't even good by division 1-AA terms. Maybe Cowboy fans will have something to cheer about. More likely we'll just have to wait until November 27th and the Great Alaskan Shootout. Until then...it's going to be a long fall (double entendre?) in Laramie.

Appleton, Wis.

By land or by sea

As far as Army goes, it's a good thing they make the games mandatory for the cadets. If they didn't, the result would be much like the second half of Saturdays game: 4500 people in attendence, 4200 cadets.

Why is Army on your Bottom 10 poll but not Navy? Anything they can do, we can do better.

Will Paul
Auburn, Ala.

We belong!

After watching Illinois lose the least exciting game ever to end with a field goal at the gun, I have to admit we belong on this list. But I KNOW we would beat Kansas in Champaign, Lawrence, or on the moon. Even the losers got to keep a little bit of pride.

David Drake
Urbana, Ill.

Preview the misery now...you have to rank Rutgers number one...already lost to worst 1-A, and a 1-AA...and still have games against four of the top eleven teams in the country in Miami, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and Tennessee...how can they not be worst in the end?!

Mitchell Hecker
Maplewood., N.J.

And the nominees are ...

For six weeks, I've banged the drum loudly for SMU.

Now that the Mustangs are back in the Bottom 10 corral, I don't see them stampeding out for a good long while!

At least they have Cowboys (Wyoming) and Aztecs (SDSU) to keep that Western flava...

Terry Doerrner
Charleston, S.C.

Where is UAB in this poll??? They were shut out by UL Lafayette. I realize they have a win, but it was against Troy State. You have to recognize a team for such poor performance.

Brett
Memphis, Tenn.

To not include Eastern Michigan on your list in simply criminal. The only thing worse would be having to watch them play. They are simply god-awful; regardless of its one win -- against a DII school!! It serves 'em right for changing their name from the Hurons to the Eagles. Is that all the originality they could come up with?? When thinking of this program one question must be asked -- whose bright idea was it to hire a coach from Arizona for your school in Michigan?? That would be like George W. Bush becoming president...oh, wait...

John
Chicago, Ill.

With a loss to perennial ACC punching bag Wake Forest, Purdue at least has to be on the waiting list.

Five turnovers?! Hopefully the NCAA will consider implementing the "do-over" rule sometime soon.

Pat Miller
Frankfurt, Ill.

How can Ohio University not be in the bottom 10? The Bobcats lost their home opener to Div. 1-AA Northeastern 31-0! They also lost to former patsy UConn and realistically have no hope for a win this season.

Thom Fisher
Elyria, Ohio
