The second weekend of games meant more changes for the Bottom 10. For the second consecutive week, we have a new No. 1. Arkansas State's 21-19 win over Tulsa opened the door for Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights earned the honor with their 34-19 loss to Buffalo, which came on the heels of a 37-19 loss to Villanova. Here's what you had to say about the week four rankings:
The Scarlet Letter I am a Rutgers alum, and all I can say is yikes!
Chuck
It's good to see that the Bottom 10 works the same as the Top 10. I knew the Scarlet Knights had a chance to wrap up the No. 1 spot with a big loss to the No. 4 Bulls from Buffalo. I'm not sure which is worse, RU getting pasted by Buffalo or the fact that I paid to attend the game. Can't wait to see the line on the game @ Tennessee in a few weeks. Do spreads go above 50?
Phil Snevenson
Rutgers is the worst team in the nation bar none. Kudos for ESPN for gettin this one right. They couldn't beat the Georgetown College Tigers who are the kings of the NAIA smallest level. I think we should set up this game. People in the state have been wanting a Georgetown-University of Kentucky game and UK isn't that bad. Imagine what Georgetown would do to Rutgers. Pathetic football at Rutgers.
Gary Robbins
I think we're going to be No. 1 for a while. At least we're No. 1 for something in football. Gary Waters please help!

Curses and forget-me-nots On behalf of Arkansas State fans, I wanted to send a thank you for ranking our Indians No. 1 last week. Opening the season, Duke was No. 1 and they beat East Carolina. A-State moves into the No. 1 spot, and voila, a win over Tulsa. You've got an anti-jinx going here. Take heart, Scarlet Knight fans!
David Barndollar
It's somehow poetic justice that Rutgers, the winner of the first-ever intercollegiate football game, is now eternally doomed to ineptitude in Div I-A. But how could you overlook their Big Least brothers at Temple, whose best (only?) chance for a win may be against those same Scarlet Knights? The Owls deserve at least to be on your waiting list. Even UConn put up some points at Boston College, and they're waiting.
Tracy Little
Cowboys lament We have a football team??? I don't know about the rest of the Cowboy fans, but I'll be wearing my $2.35 million paper bag over my head.
JJ Satkunam
Wyoming's A.D. will not fire our lack-luster coach until we hit No. 1 in the bottom 10. Will a home loss to Boise State help us out?
Greg De Rossitte
Breaking Away Get ready to add Indiana. They are the worst team in the Big Ten and that will become clear when they play Northwestern. This team is absolutely horrible. They are lucky that they scheduled "Bill and Mary" because there won't be another victory all season.
Chad
There has been a lot of talk about the Big Ten expanding to 12 teams, but I have a feeling that we might go the other way. Keep your eye on September 28th. Both Northwestern (No. 3 on your list) and Indiana (neglectfully left off of your list) will be playing away games. Look for Big Ten commissioner James Delany to change the locks while their out, and start ducking their phone calls like I do to bill collectors... "Nonono, I no know him, he no live here!"
Marc Robinson
Carolina on my mind The No. 1 Bottom team should be changed to East Carolina. There are the most legit contender for this position for various reasons. First of all they have always had some kind of offense, but for some reason they left that in the gutter on the way to their first game against Duke. Second of all they are "Supposed to" be a decent team, naturally. You can't expect teams like Eastern Michigan to win against teams like Michigan or Michigan St, however, East Carolina is supposed compete in these "Higher" arenas. I have nothing against ECU, but man, I can smell their stank all the way from here in Vegas!!!
Mike Amador.
Livin' on Tulsa time It is sad that Tulsa only ranks second in your Bottom 10 after going to Jonesboro to play what was supposed to be the worst D-1 team in the nation. The Golden Hurricane valiantly defended the nations longest losing streak and deserve better.
Harry
How is Tulsa not No. 1? This is absolutely the worst D-1 team in the history of college football. Couple this with the worst coach in the history of college football and the disaster is complete.

Bad News Bears How can you take Baylor out of there? They beat Samford, a Div I-AA school, yippee. There are 18 higher ranked Div IAA teams than Baylor, a school in a major power conference. Okay here's the clincher, Baylor alums rented a plane to fly banners over the game that read "Stanton: Thou Shall Not Steele" and "BU Football is 14-53 under Tom Stanton" (shots at the AD and head coach). Banners are paid for to fly for the rest of the season also. Baylor is a national joke and couldn't beat many high school teams in Texas. Please change your mind after New Mexico manhandles the "Cubs."
Mark Gragg
As a 5th year Baylor student, even I can appreciate the occasional "victory". But I wonder, does beating Stanford, sorry, I meant I-AA Samford, earn our way out of the Bottom 10? I don't think so. The Bears were No. 3 and climbing. Give the Green and Gold credit. Yes, this is still the same team that gave up 70 points to Cal. And this is also the same team that has yet to play Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Colorado. Don't be surprised if the bad news bears earn their way right back in to the Bottom 10, where they have belonged for the last 5 years.

And where is Baylor in this mess... Beano ranked Baylor in the top 4 as "one of the worst places to coach or win in football." Sadly that was three years ago and Baylor still embarrasses the Big XII. Lic 'Em Bears
Disappointed Bear
And the nominees are ... How did Vandy escape the Bottom 10? I know they beat Furman, but after all they are division I-AA and the Vandy head coach hand the inside scoop on this opponent. I hope the Commodores enjoy the win. It might be their only one this year.
Craig Tennant
After going to the Eastern Michigan-Toledo game, I think Eastern Michigan is the worst team ever. The only way they could get a win is if they have the Detroit Lions on the schedule.
Mark Voisin
What about UTEP? They lost to Kentucky by 60 points. Kentucky's football team not basketball. Come on, giving up 77 points to Kentucky's football team is almost as bad as losing to Buffalo.
Kenton Bell
Where are the Black Knights of the Hudson? We lost to Patriot League powerhouse Holy Cross on Sat. I thought for sure I'd see my boys creep into some sort of rankings for the first time in 7 years. But wait, Rutgers this Saturday? For sure we'll sneak in next week!!
Matt
Where is Illinois??? Based on results (one total blowout loss, one where the rain and slop concealed their poor effort) vs. expectations (you have that may starters returning from a 10-2 team, especially the receivers, you should win), there is no doubt the Illini are off to the worst start of any of the major conference teams. From 10-2 to 2-10, if they are lucky. Common, what does a team have to do to be one of the worst (seeing them on some top 10 list is all we can hope for)??!?!?
Jefferey Saiger
Parting shots Is this a ranking of the worst teams? Or is it Kansas State's non-conference schedule for the next 3 years?
Tom
It's about time you broke up the two Louisiana schools. UL-Lafayette has kept their two games against Texas A&M and Minnesota close until the fourth quarter. UL-Monroe, meanwhile, looked especially bad in their 68-0 humiliation at Kansas St. Be sure to move Monroe up on the list after they lose to McNeese St. this weekend.
