Breaking it down: The surprise team of the country featured the surprise back of the year. While the Wildcats spread offense received the publicity, it was Anderson's running that made it explosive. Anderson was second in the country with 174 yards per game and shattered Michigan State's Lorenzo White's Big Ten records for rushing yards (1,549) and rushing average (193.6) in conference games. He also seemed to come up big when the Wildcats needed him most: rushing for 174 yards against then-No. 6 Wisconsin, gaining 219 yards against then-No. 15 Michigan State, gaining 268 yards against then-No. 12 Michigan and 230 yards against Minnesota.
