The lowdown
2000-01 record: 24-13; 12-4 in A-10 (2nd)
Final Ranking: No. 16 ESPN/USA Today
Postseason: Lost to Michigan State in South Regional final, 69-62.
Three Questions for 2001-02
1. Who replaces Quincy Wadley as a scorer, but more importantly, as the Owls' leader?
2. Can Kevin Lyde get eligible this summer after leaving early for NBA draft, then changing his mind after missing most of spring semester?
3. How does Chaney get his younger players to adapt to the system quicker?
Three Key Facts
1. Temple lost seven straight games in December. But by March, the Owls were in their 12th straight NCAA Tournament.
2. John Chaney, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in October, discovered the web isn't such a bad place to sell a car this summer. Chaney's black 1995 BMW 840ci was auctioned on ebay for $35,100. A user identified as "cthouse63: won the auction. "I've got three cars. I only drive one. This just sits in the garage all winter," Chaney said.
3. The Owls will have one of the biggest -- if not biggest -- frontlines in the nation now that Lyde is back in the fold. Lyde is back with 290-pound buddy Ron Rollerson up front.
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: Finish first in the East, make deep run in NCAAs
Worst case: Drop to third in the East and not make the NCAA Tournament.
