The lowdown
2000-01 record: 18-12; 9-7 in A-10 (5th)
Final Ranking: NR
Postseason: Lost to Pittsburgh, 84-75 in first round of NIT.
Three Questions for 2001-02
1. Who replaces Peter van Passan and Kevin Houston?
2. How difficult will the adjustment to Jan van Breda Kolff's new style be for Bonnies? Especially his changing defenses.
3. How will they use Marques Green and J.R. Bremer together?
Three Key Facts
1. While the Bonnies didn't reach the NCAA Tournament, their NIT bid was the school's first back-to-back postseason appearance since reaching the '78 NCAAs and '79 NIT.
2. Jan van Breda Kolff replaces Jim Baron on the Bonnies' bench. Barron, who spent nine seasons in Olean, N.Y., is now the head man at Rhode Island. van Breda Kolff led Pepperdine to the 2000 NCAA Tournament, upsetting Indiana in the first round, and into the NIT last season.
3. As usual, St. Bonaventure struggled away from home, going 2-6 away from the Reilly Center in the A-10 and winning just five of 13 on the road overall.
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: Nothing better than fourth in the East.
Worst case: The Bonnies could wind up battling Rhode Island for last place in East.
