Knicks playbook: Opening up options for Patrick
Coach's Edge

New York took away Miami's home-court advantage with a balanced attack in Game 2. Six Knicks scored in double figures with none tallying more than 13, and that was enough to get the job done.

If Patrick Ewing can continue to neutralize Alonzo Mourning (as he did in Game 2), the Knicks will beat Miami for the second consecutive year. But if 'Zo gets his, (as he did in Game 1) look for the Heat to advance.

ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE
(A) As Patrick Ewing (33) jostles for position inside, the Knicks run their initial set up top. Allan Houston (20) dribbles off a high screen from Larry Johnson (2) and looks for his shot.
(B) If nothing's there, the Knicks still have an option with Patrick. Houston (20) passes back to LJ (2) while Ewing (33) seals inside. Johnson hits the big man inside where Ewing loves to shoot the little fadeaway.
