Tuesday, September 19 Coach suspended for one game
Associated Press
SYDNEY, Australia -- Britain's women's Olympic field hockey
coach was suspended for one game Tuesday for using "crude and
inappropriate" language toward a woman official.
The International Hockey Federation said Jon Royce will not be
allowed to attend when Britain meets South Korea on Wednesday.
"This decision ... follows alleged crude and inappropriate
language made by Mr. Royce to a female doping control escort
following the match between Great Britain and Argentina," Hick
Irvine, media officer for the federation, said.
Royce and other British officials were not available for
comment.
Britain has lost both matches, including 1-0 to Argentina on
Monday, when the incident took place at the Hockey Center.
