DALLAS (AP) _ Howard Eisley had 15 points, including the go-ahead layup with 16 seconds left, as the Dallas Mavericks rallied for a 100-96 preseason victory over the Miami Heat on Friday night. Brian Grant led the Heat with 25 points, and his inside basket with 1:32 left gave Miami a 96-92 edge. But Steve Nash's layup with 1:19 remaining triggered an 8-0 Dallas run over the final minute. Eisley's two free throws with 51 seconds left tied it at 96, and then his driving basket gave Dallas the lead for good. Miami's Bruce Bowen missed from 14 feet with six seconds left, and Greg Buckner converted two free throws with 2.1 seconds to play for the final margin. Christian Laettner had 14 points, Nash had 13 and Michael Finley and Greg Buckner 12 each for Dallas. Anthony Mason added 16 points and Tim Hardaway had 13 for Miami. The Heat (1-4) were without center Alonzo Mourning, who is out for the season with a kidney ailment. Coach Pat Riley said before the game that former Heat center Rony Seikaly contacted the team about returning. But Seikaly is under contract to a Spanish club. Gary Trent, Hubert Davis and Etan Thomas missed the game for Dallas (5-1). The Heat led by as many as seven points, at 84-77, early in the fourth quarter on Bowen's 3-pointer before the Mavericks started their comeback. Loy Vaught, acquired from the Detroit Pistons this week, had six points and five rebounds in 15 minutes in his Mavericks debut.
