Terry Baker: First West Coast winner

Terry Baker, Oregon State's quarterback, established an amazing record in total offense, running and passing for 4,980 yards. In 1962, his Heisman winning season, he completed 112 passes out of 203 attempts for 1,738 yards, including 15 touchdown passes. He led his team in net yards gained rushing, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He kicked 33 of his team's 42 punts, averaging 37.4 yards per punt. He was the first Heisman winner to come from the West Coast.

Favorite Heisman season memory
I would have to choose our Liberty Bowl game against Villanova. We were able to come through with a 6-0 win. I had a 99-yard run for a touchdown and the game's only points.

Heisman presentation memory
It was a wonderful event. Being from the West coast, I had never been to New York before. It was like being in Hollywood. Bobby Kennedy was a presenter and I sat by him. They treated us like royalty.
