Glenn Davis: "I admire them all"

Glen Davis & Doc Blanchard
Glen "Mr. Outside" Davis (41) and Doc "Mr. Inside" Blanchard (35) combined to lead Army to the 1945 national championship.
He was "Mr. Outside" of Army's famed Davis-Blanchard duo. Glenn Davis, winner of the 1946 Heisman, scored 59 touchdowns in his career and gained an amazing 4,129 yards from rushing and passing for the Black Knights. He ranks as one of the most versatile players in college football history. Serving in the Army in Korea until 1950, Davis resigned his commission to join the Los Angeles Rams and played on two championship teams.

The List
Glenn Davis lists the Heisman winners that he admires.

All of them
I really admire every winner. I just couldn't select a few. They have all accomplished something that very few people will ever do.

Favorite Heisman season memory
My favorite moment was when the gun went off in the 1946 game against Navy. We went into the game favored by 35 points and led all the way. Yet the Navy was able hang in there. They moved the ball all the way to the 4-yard line and were in position for a field goal, but time ran out. We escaped with a 21-18 win.

Heisman presentation memory
I was thilled to win the Heisman. I had finished second to my teammate Doc Blanchard in 1945 and to Ohio State's Les Horvath in 1944. The ceremony is very different today. Back then, the award was presented in a little 40x40 room. Coach Blaik and I were there with some invited members of the press. It was nothing like the Black-tie dinners for 2,000 that they have now.
