Sales, Teasley named All-Star replacements

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Connecticut's Nykesha Sales and Los Angeles' Nikki Teasley were added as injury replacements Monday for the WNBA All-Star Game.

Sales will take the place of New York's Becky Hammon, who tore the ACL in her right knee, on the East roster. Sales is averaging 16.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

"It's always a great accomplishment," Sales said Monday. "You put yourself in a position to become an all-star through hard work and with the help of your teammates."

Teasley replaces Houston's Cynthia Cooper, who has a torn rotator cuff, for the West. Teasley is averaging 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

West coach Michael Cooper on Wednesday said Tamecka Dixon will replace Cynthia Cooper in the starting lineup.

Hammon underwent surgery Monday and is expected to be able to return to the team next season.

Detroit, Los Angeles and New York each will have three representatives in Saturday's All-Star Game (4 p.m. ET, ABC).
