Bob Stoops and Oklahoma had a tremedous recruiting season. They successfully raided Texas for top players like LB Lewis Baker, CB Tony Cade and LB Demarrio Pleasant. In-state, The Sooners kept RB Courtney Tennial and LB Dane Zaslaw at home. OU's top five class was solidified by the out-of-state talent signed -- DL Moe Dampeer (Ill.), OL Akim Millington (Ill.) and QB Tommy Grady (Calif.). Texas and Texas A&M also had tremendous success signing prospects. Here's my breakdown of the top classes in the Big 12:
| 1. OKLAHOMA SOONERS |
| |
The Skinny |
Key Recruit |
Sleeper |
 |
The real story of Oklahoma's class is the great recruiting done in Texas.
|
DL Moe Dampeer: Fast hands, unusual quickness with good strength and closing speed. |
RB Courtney Tennial: An MVP in Oklahoma who didn't get much national attention. Good speed and vision. |
| 2. TEXAS LONGHORNS |
| |
The Skinny |
Key Recruit |
Sleeper |
 |
The Longhorns didn't finish strong, but put together a great class -- especially considering last year's No. 1 class.
|
TE Tony Hills: Great size, strength, exceptional quickness and flexibility and super hands. |
DB Michael Griffin: Austin native has shown vision, balance and explosiveness. |
| 3. TEXAS A&M AGGIES |
| |
The Skinny |
Key Recruit |
Sleeper |
 |
A remarkable finish for the Aggies, considering the coaching change. The Ags filled their needs along the line.
|
OL Jorrie Adams: Dominating OT with exceptional agility, balance and all around athletic ability.
|
WR Earvin Taylor: A tall, athletic WR with soft hands and big play capabilities. |
| 4. COLORADO BUFFALOES |
| |
The Skinny |
Key Recruit |
Sleeper |
 |
Colorado signed big numbers and some real good players. Filled needs at QB, WR, OL and DB.
|
RB Terry Washington: An explosive ball player who shows good body lean and can pick and slide. |
WR Stephone Robinson: An explosive ball player with sure hands and great concentration. Uncanny ability to make plays. |
| 5. NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS |
| |
The Skinny |
Key Recruit |
Sleeper |
 |
A very solid class, but lacking difference makers.
|
OL Ryan Schuler: Dominating blocker with agility, body control and balance.
|
OL Brandon Teamer: Good in-state prospect with long arms and good agility. |
