Bottom 10: Duke primed for run at the record

ESPN.com

The Bottom 10's inspirational thought of the week:

"Every time you win, your're reborn; when you lose, you die a little." -- George Allen.

Here's a group that shouldn't be cryogenically frozen:

ESPN.com's Bottom 10
Team '01 Record Comments
1. Duke 0-11 Blue Devils' 23-game losing streak has them within striking distance of Northwestern's record of futility.
2. Houston 0-11 The program is about as sturdy as the failed temporary bleacher experiment from last year.
3. Navy 0-10 It's more important that they're at the top in national defense.
4. UL-U Pick'em 5-17 Not that you could tell Lafayette from Monroe, but last year one went 3-8 the other 2-9.
5. Arkansas State 2-9 Hey Billy Bob, this I-A thing ain't workin'.
6. Idaho 1-10 If you had this Sun Belt quartet slotted at 4, 5 and 6, you hit the Bottom 10 superfecta.
7. Baylor 3-8 The Bears are still looking for their first Big 12 win of the new millennium.
8. Kansas 3-8 In football the slogan is "Rock, Choke, Jayhawk" or "We aren't Baylor."
9. UConn 2-9 Only seven weeks until basketball practice starts.
10. Vanderbilt 2-9 No winning season since 1982 sinks the Commodores to the 10 spot next to ...
10a. Northwestern 0-34 The immortal 1979-82 Wildcats who will remain on the list as long as Duke is in their neighborhood.

Waiting list: California, Eastern Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio, Wyoming.

ESPN.com users had plenty to say about the first Bottom 10 ranking of the season.
