PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Chicago's three-game road trip certainly was
productive.
"Everything is clicking right now," Cubs manager Don Baylor
said after Thursday's 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, which
extended Chicago's season-best winning streak to six. "We've
gotten timely hitting, strong pitching out the bullpen and good
defense. That stuff adds up to wins."

Ricky Gutierrez hit a go-ahead triple in a three-run ninth as the Cubs completed a three-game sweep, giving them 13 wins in 16
games.
With the score 1-all, pinch-hitter Brant Brown singled off Vicente Padilla (2-2) leading off the ninth. Eric Young followed with a grounder to shortstop Alex Arias. Brown, who was running on the pitch, broke up a potential double-play with a hard slide into
Arias.
"That was an unsung-hero type of play by Brown," Baylor said.
"Without that play, we might not have a big inning."
"He hit me as I was throwing the ball," Arias said. "If not,
we get the double play. It was the turning point of the game."
Young was safe at first and scored on a Gutierrez triple to the
right-center-field gap. Gutierrez scored on Sammy Sosa's sacrifice
fly, and Damon Buford added an RBI single off Ed Vosberg.
Steve Rain (2-0) struck out three and walked none in 2 1/3
hitless innings. Rain hasn't allowed a hit in his last three
appearances -- a span of five innings.
"His split-finger was devastating, just about unhittable,"
Baylor said. "It was vintage case of moving the ball around. He's
done a great job."
Rick Aguilera got three outs for his 23rd save in 30 chances.
Padilla, acquired Wednesday from Arizona in the Curt Schilling
trade, made his Phillies debut and allowed three runs and four hits
in 2 2/3 innings.
"Wow," Phillies manager Terry Francona said. "I'd say he's as
advertised. He threw some real good pitches, and he fires it. He's
going to get a lot of people out."
Phillies starter Robert Person allowed one run and six hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking four. Person is 0-1 in
six starts since May 27.
"As long as he stays healthy, he'll be out there," Francona
said. "He threw hard. He labored a little, but he didn't give
in."
Chicago rookie Scott Down struck out a career-high eight in 5
2/3 innings, giving up one run, six hits and four walks. He
stranded seven runners in the first five innings including four in
scoring position.
Downs, 1-for-24 at the plate coming in, hit a run-scoring single
in the second for his first major league RBI.
"Just luck," Downs said. "I just wanted to make contact. I
was fortunate to get the ball through there. It's exciting."
Arias' sacrifice fly scored Pat Burrell in the sixth.

The Phillies designated Kirk Bullinger for assignment. ...
Gutierrez got his major league-leading 14th sacrifice bunt in the
seventh inning. ... The Phillies failed to hit a home run for the
first time in 12 games. The club record is 14 set in 1922. ...
Buford made a great leaping catch against the center-field wall to
rob Bobby Abreu of extra bases in the seventh. ... The Phillies
signed UCLA 2B Chase Utley, their first-round draft pick.
