Case No. 14,
Mark Mulder

Poll Results

We can now start calling Oakland A's left-hander Mark Mulder something a little more creative than simply "Agent Mulder."

Mark Mulder
"Word to Your Mulder:" This young pitcher is pretty good.
In this week's case of the Berman Files, Page 2 set out to give Mulder a better nickname than the obvious comparison to his namesake from "The X Files."

After sifting through nearly 1,000 letters, our poll came down to the wire for the final two choices. More than 4,300 of our readers voted, and they narrowly chose Mark "Word to Your" Mulder for the pitcher's new moniker.

"Word to Your" Mulder received 24.7 percent of the vote, narrowly beating out "First-Degree" Mulder (22.2 percent) and "Dial 'M' for" Mulder (19.7 percent).

The favorite choice of Page 2's editorial staff was "Dial 'M' for" Mulder.

Thanks for voting, and check back next week for another edition of The Berman Files to affix a good nickname on athletes in desperate need of monikers.
