ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia got a double benefit from its stifling defense against Montana.

Coco Miller scored 16 points and Shala Crawford added 15 in the first round of the women's NCAA tournament West Regional as top-seed Georgia shut down Montana 74-46 on Saturday.

"The last 10 minutes of the first half were a nightmare for us," Montana coach Robin Selvig said. "They played great defense."

Georgia was up 40-16 on 48 percent shooting by halftime while Montana (22-8) mustered only 24 percent.

The Lady Bulldogs face Stanford on Monday after the Cardinal beat Michigan 81-74 in overtime.

Georgia (30-3), which has held four of its last five opponents to 49 points or less, finally produced some fast-break baskets.

"That's what our offense has been needing," Georgia coach Andy Landers said. "We have been holding people to 50 or 60 points, but our offense has not really capitalized."

Montana went eight minutes between points in the second half, as Georgia stretched its lead from 47-25 to 65-25.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start, making just one of their first eight shots. Then Miller got going, hitting two 3-pointers en route to 10 first-half points.

The teams were tied 9-9 after the first nine minutes, but Georgia turned up the defensive pressure and outscored the 16th-seeded Lady Griz 31-7 over the last 10 minutes of the half.

Crawford drew a charge, stole the ball once and scored six points during the surge.

Cheryl Keller scored 15 points for Montana, including three 3-pointers, and Lauren Cooper added 10.

"I was most proud of our team during the beginning of the game when we were struggling on offense and still showing a lot of patience to make smart plays on offense," Landers said.
