Reigning league MVP Harold Arceneaux is one of 25 candidates for this season's John R. Wooden Award, presented annually to the nation's most outstanding college basketball player. No one from the Big Sky has ever won the award.
Northern Arizona guard Commander King is likely to make some all-name teams. His father's name is Ransom King.
The Big Sky has won two NCAA Tournament games in the last 17 years, both by Weber State. The Wildcats ended Jud Heathcote's Michigan State career with a 79-72 win in 1995 and knocked off North Carolina last season, 76-74. Each time Weber State was seeded 14th.
Northern Arizona has been the best 3-point shooting team in the nation for the last three seasons, the first time any team has done that since the 3-point shot was adopted. The Lumberjacks also had the best field-goal percentage in the country last season at .523.
Cal State Sacramento has not won a road game since the opening game of the 1996-97 season.
Northern Arizona's Dan McClintock led the league in field-goal percentage last season at .668.
NAU's Ross Land needs 48 3-pointers to become the Big Sky's all-time leader in that category. He had 83 last season.
