Karl threatens shave if Bucks win at home again

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME FLOW

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- George Karl might start sporting the Glenn Robinson look.

Glenn Robinson
Glenn Robinson found time to play a little defense, too, blocking this Vladimir Stephania shot and one other.

Robinson scored a season-high 35 points in 35 minutes Saturday night, leading Milwaukee to a 115-81 victory over the New Jersey Nets.

It was the Bucks' ninth straight victory at the Bradley Center.

"Maybe I'll shave my head if we get 10," Karl said.

What would be the point of that, wondered Robinson.

"He's already halfway there."

Still, Robinson would like to be there with the clippers should the Bucks get by the Clippers on Tuesday night.

"I think he'll do it," Robinson said. "If that's a way to motivate us, I think he'll shave his head and grow his beard back."

Robinson sank 14 of 18 shots and took a seat with eight minutes left and the Bucks ahead by 27 points. The final margin of 34 points matched Milwaukee's biggest victory this season, a 104-70 rout of Chicago on Jan. 2.

Sam Cassell added 16 points and 13 assists for the Bucks, who haven't lost at home Dec. 7. The Nets lost for the 10th time in 12 games and for the 22nd time in 27 games.

Stephen Jackson (18 points) scored 10 of the Nets' first 12 points but he went down with a left knee injury with 10:13 left in the first half. He was helped off the court and into the trainer's room but returned to start the second half.

Robinson had his own scary moment when he jumped up to defend Jackson, rolled over his hip and landed hard on his back with 5:36 left in the third quarter. After a timeout, Robinson returned to action.

"I'm sore, but I'm OK," Robinson said.

Actually, what hurts more, he said, is getting snubbed by voters for the All-Star game even though he's having his best year yet.

"It disappoints me a little when you look at my statistics and they're better than a lot of guys ahead of me," Robinson said. "But I can't worry about that.

"All-Star votes or not, I'm still going to go out and help this team so we can win ball games," Robinson said. "I'll take wins and I'll take being in first place in the division over first place in the voting any day."

Karl said there's not a better small forward in the game today, and Nets coach Byron Scott concurred.

"Glenn has always been a scorer, but he's elevated his game," Scott said. "He scores in a lot of ways now."

New Jersey's Johnny Newman, who used to play with Robinson in Milwaukee, said his former teammate is better because his supporting cast is, too.

"He's always been a scorer," Newman said. "But they have other guys who demand attention now. We let him get into his comfort zone. He came around a couple screens too clean early, and when he can do that, he gets into his rhythm."

Game notes
Ray Allen bruised his right thigh driving to the basket early in the fourth quarter and sat out the final 11:37, although Karl said he could have returned. ... Allen extended his streak to 10 straight games with at least two 3-pointers. ... Robinson's previous high this season was 32 points. ... The Bucks' record for most consecutive home victories is 18, established in 1990-91.
