Armstrong points Magic in right direction

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME FLOW

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Point guard Darrell Armstrong has the Orlando Magic on the move.

Tracy McGrady scored 27 points for the Magic before leaving to protect a sprained ankle.

Armstrong continued his inspired play Saturday night, finishing with 11 points and nine assists as the Magic beat the Golden State Warriors 111-94.

Armstrong has 32 assists and just two turnovers in Orlando's last three games, and Magic coach Doc Rivers will take those numbers anytime.

"Darrell is just really playing well, as far as being a floor leader right now," Rivers said. "If you get those numbers from Darrell, then you are going to win a lot of games."

Armstrong credits his recent success to Orlando's offense finally hitting stride.

"We're executing our offense, so it's easy to get guys the ball when they come off a pick that guys are setting for you," Armstrong said. "You just throw the ball when they're wide open. My teammates are doing their job and I'm trying to do my job with them, and that's why I had that success this whole week."

Tracy McGrady scored 27 points before leaving to rest a sprained ankle and reserve Pat Garrity scored 17. Monty Williams added 14 points and eight rebounds as the Magic beat the Warriors for the 10th time in 13 games.

McGrady shot 11-for-16 and grabbed six rebounds in 22 minutes. He turned his ankle early in the third quarter and did not return. Rivers said McGrady could have played, but he didn't want to risk further injury.

Orlando converted 17 Golden State turnovers into 19 points.

Mark Jackson had 25 points and 13 rebounds for Golden State, which lost for the fifth time in six games. Antawn Jamison shot 6-for-19 and finished with 21 points. Bob Sura and Mookie Blaylock each had 10 points.

Golden State has played its last five games on the road, a stretch that might be taking a toll on the Warriors.

"You can't come into a game and take a night off like we did tonight," Sura said. "It's been a long trip but you gotta find a way to get it done. There's no excuses. We make a lot of money to come out and play each night. You can't take a night off or something like tonight will happen to you."

Orlando opened up a 19-point lead at the 9:42 mark of the third quarter.

Two free throws with 5:42 remaining by Adam Keefe cut Orlando's lead to 96-78. Golden State went on an 8-2 run and closed within 98-86, but were unable to complete the comeback.

Orlando bridged the second and third quarters with a 32-5 run and led 76-49 with 6:34 remaining in the third.

Golden State went 0-for-9 to start the third period and did not score until Blaylock hit a jumper at the 6:03 mark. The Warriors shot 5-for-20 in the period and trailed 88-67.

"We're struggling," Blaylock said. "We just don't have a rhythm together. It's tough to win games in this league if you don't have any chemistry and that's what we don't have."

McGrady hit 10 of his first 14 shots for 25 in the first half. Garrity had 14 points as Orlando led 60-49. Golden State got 19 points from Jackson on 9-of-11 shooting.

Game notes
Adonal Foyle (stress fracture tibia), Larry Hughes (sprained thumb) and Chris Porter (sprained ankle) did not travel with Golden State. ... The Magic have defeated the Warriors eight consecutive times in Orlando. ... Orlando outscored Golden State's bench 39-0 in the first three quarters.
