SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Tim Duncan had 21 points and 16 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Miami Heat 88-85 in an exhibition game Thursday night. The Spurs (2-3), playing without center David Robinson (sore foot) and point guard Avery Johnson (hamstring injury) came back from an 18-point third-quarter deficit to snap a two-game losing streak and pick up their first victory at home. Reserve guard Steve Kerr scored 13 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. Down 74-66 with 7:56 left, Kerr hit a jumper and 3-pointer as the Spurs closed to 74-71. Malik Rose's layup for the Spurs cut it to one before Miami's Anthony Carter restored the lead to three with 5:34 left. Danny Ferry and Kerr hit back-to-back 3-pointers as the Spurs took a 79-76 lead. Brian Grant had two layups and a free throw to give Miami an 81-79 lead with 3:44 remaining. But Rose responded with three free throws as the Spurs regained the lead for good, 82-81. Antonio Daniels' 3-pointer with 49 seconds put San Antonio ahead 85-81. Rose finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Miami (1-3), playing without center Alonzo Mourning (out for the season with a kidney ailment) was paced by Tim Hardaway and Eddie Jones with 21 points apiece. Grant added 14 points and Dan Majerle had 12. The Spurs shot 42 percent (32-for-76) to Miami's 47 percent (34-for-73), but outrebounded the Heat 48-37.
