On the final round: "It was an unbelievable display of golf and guts. I don't think we've seen
this kind of a matchup since Nicklaus and Watson at Turnberry -- certainly not in my time on the tour (since 1988). If you weren't a golf fan, you became one. And if you were a golf fan, it was a special day. Great drama. Tiger showed why he's the best player in the world. Bob May showed that he's a guy with a lot of heart and soul."
On the back-nine duel "They got into the match-play mode, a kind of 'can you top this?' Bob kept hitting laser iron shots into the greens and Tiger kept scrambling and matching him. The key to the match was the 15th hole. Tiger was lucky his approach to the green was left. He could putt it instead of playing out of the rough. But he still had to make a 15-footer. Bob needed a 5-footer but he didn't make it. He was starting to lose it right there."
On Bob May "It was his coming out party. Nobody gave him a chance, but when he birdies two of the first four holes and Tiger starts going the other way, he was right in this tournament. The back nine showed the kind of guts and heart he has. He fought Tiger hole for hole. He broke the all-time tournament record and lost. That's a tough way to go."
On Tiger Woods "He stepped up when he had to step it up. He had a great up-and-down at 11.
He made it at 12. He made it at 14. He recovered on 15. And on 17, May hits his ball to the left. Tiger is playing a fairway he hasn't hit all week and he could have just hit an iron. But instead, he gambles with the driver and hits it 325 yards. That was just awesome. To hit that shot at the time he hit it -- and hit it the way he did -- showed why he's the No. 1 player in the world."
