ESPN.com news services

Ottawa Senators: The Senators re-signed defenseman Wade Redden to a multiyear contract Wednesday.

Terms were not disclosed.

Redden had 10 goals and 45 points last season as the Senators came within a victory of advancing to the Stanley Cup finals. Ottawa lost to eventual champion New Jersey in the Eastern finals.

In seven seasons and 548 career games, Redden has 61 goals, 182 assists and 338 penalty minutes in 548 career games.

Redden ranks third in career games played (548), 10th in goals (61), fourth in assists (181), sixth in points (243) and seventh in penalty minutes (338) for Ottawa.

Florida Panthers: The team re-signed their top two scorers from last season, inking All-Star center Olli Jokinen and right wing Viktor Kozlov to one-year contracts.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Jokinen was paid $968,000 during a career season while Kozlov was paid $2.1 million in 2002-03.

Jokinen, 24, shattered career highs with 36 goals, 29 assists, 13 power-play tallies, three shorthanded goals and six game-winners. The former first-round draft pick highlighted his season with a goal and three assists before hometown fans in his All-Star debut.

"I'm happy to be back in the NHL and back with the Florida Panthers," Jokinen said. "I still have a lot to prove and I want to prove to everyone that it wasn't just a one-year fluke last year. I can keep improving and hopefully play even better this year."

Kozlov, 28, reached the 50-point mark for the third time in the last five seasons. He scored a career-high 22 goals, including seven on the power play, and led the team with 34 assists.

St. Louis Blues: The team re-signed goaltender Brent Johnson and defenseman Bryce Salvador.

Terms were not disclosed.

Johnson, 26, posted a 16-13-5 record with a 2.47 goals-against average last season, but lost his starting job to Chris Osgood, who was acquired from the New York Islanders before the trading deadline and was the No. 1 goalie in the playoffs.

Johnson set a career-high with 34 wins in 2001-02 and became the first goaltender in NHL history to record shutouts in his first three playoff wins. But he suffered a high ankle sprain prior to training camp last season and struggled to regain his form after returning in December.

Salvador, 27, matured into a dependable No. 3 defenseman for the Blues last season, recording two goals, eight assists and 95 penalty minutes in 71 games.

The Blues on Wednesday also re-signed defenseman Christian Laflamme and centers Ryan Johnson and Steve Martins.

Terms were not disclosed.

Laflamme, 26, had nine assists in 47 games last season.

Martins, 31, was claimed on waivers from Ottawa in January and played on the checking line, recording three goals and three assists in 28 games.

Ryan Johnson, 27, was claimed on waivers from Florida in February and played in just 17 games for the Blues.
