Flames winless in last eight

  RECAP | BOX SCORE

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -- Antti Laaksonen scored 3:11 into overtime and Wes Walz had two goals as the Minnesota Wild beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 Sunday night for their first road win.

Calgary is winless in its last eight games (0-6-2) and has won once in nine home games (1-6-2).

Minnesota led most of the game before Jeff Cowan tied it for Calgary with 6:45 remaining in the third period. He deflected a Toni Lydman shot past goalie Manny Fernandez.

Jeff Cowen and Marc Savard scored for the Flames, who continue to struggle against expansion teams. Calgary has lost to Minnesota twice and Columbus once.

Fernandez finished with 22 saves.

Walz gave the Wild a 2-1 lead with 5:45 left in the second period when he stepped around Flames defenseman Phil Housley and scored on a shot that caromed off Brathwaite's blocker and into the net.

It was the fifth goal of the season for Walz, who spent the last four seasons playing in Switzerland before signing with the Wild as a free agent. He scored a career-best 11 goals during the 1993-94 season as a member of the Flames.

After Savard gave the Flames the lead at 16:41 of the first period, the Wild tied it 39 seconds later on Walz's first goal.

Savard opened the scoring for Calgary when he dashed down the left wing and rifled a 30-foot slapshot past Fernandez.

Game notes
The Flames have scored more than three goals in just one game this season, a 4-2 road win in Detroit on Oct. 15. ... In nine home games, Calgary has scored 18 goals. ...
