TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Nearly three years ago, David Boston broke Jake Plummer's heart with Ohio State's winning touchdown catch against Arizona State in the Rose Bowl.

As the Arizona Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak with a 14-3 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, Boston and Plummer showed how much damage they can do when they're on the same team.

	Cardinals receiver David Boston wouldn't be slowed by Phillippi Sparks and the Giants. He caught eight passes for 101 yards.

"Jake's a great quarterback. Everybody knows that around here," Boston said. "I'm just glad to be able to catch the ball from him."

Boston caught eight passes for 101 yards, including a leaping 11-yard touchdown catch with 25 seconds to go in the first half as Arizona took a 14-0 lead at the break.

"David Boston is now a definite weapon," Plummer said. "It's a shame we didn't use him the first four games. He's going to be great for us."

Plummer played nearly error free before leaving the game early in the third quarter with a left hip pointer. He returned with 4:05 to play for Arizona's final offensive series.

It was the first victory for the Cardinals (2-3) in five tries against New York coach Jim Fassel.

The Giants offense went from bad to worse under new quarterback Kerry Collins.

"To be honest with you, I don't know what to do," Fassel said. "We can't get 11 guys to do their job on a regular basis. We got time and we can't make a play. We have no rhythm. No acceleration."

Plummer completed 13 of 19 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, by far his best game of what had been an awful start to his third season. After throwing 13 interceptions in the first four games, he didn't throw one against New York.

Arizona, which had 17 turnovers in its first four games, didn't have any against the Giants (2-3).

"This is the first game we haven't turned the ball over this year," Cardinals coach Vince Tobin said. "The next highest was four, so that's a big drop."

New York's offense wilted most of the afternoon in the 100-plus-degree heat. Collins, starting in place of Kent Graham, who was out with a concussion, completed 24 of 38 passes for 202 yards and was intercepted once.

"I don't think I played very well," Collins said. "There were a lot of malfunctions going on."

Fassel had beaten the Cardinals four times with a pounding ground game, but it didn't work this time against an Arizona defense bolstered by the return of two-time Pro Bowl tackle Eric Swann, who had been out for nearly a year after undergoing two operations on his arthritic right knee.

GAME NOTES

Arizona rookie offensive tackle L.J. Shelton, who was a contract holdout, saw his first action. Cardinals second-year defensive back Pat Tillman had his first career interception. New York's Christian Peter blocked Chris Jacke's 34-yard field goal try in the third quarter. The three points were the fewest Arizona has allowed in 18 regular-season games. Mario Bates of Arizona opened the second half with a 51-yard kickoff return, the longest of his career. After being outscored 51-0 in the first quarter in the first four games, Arizona was tied 0-0 and had the ball inside the Giants 1 when the quarter ended. The Cards' Rob Frederickson had 13 tackles.

The Giants double-teamed Swann as if he'd never been gone.

The attention the big tackle received helped defensive end Simeon Rice sack Collins twice.

"Swann pushes the tackles, and it enables the defensive ends to come around," Rice said. "He's a big presence out there."

Collins fumbled when he was hit by defensive end Andre Wadsworth in the first quarter and Arizona's Kwamie Lassiter recovered at New York's 30. Plummer was sacked on the next play, but on second-and-18, Boston's fingertip catch of a 37-yard pass gave Arizona the ball on the 1.

Plummer sneaked over on the first play of the second quarter to make it 7-0.

Arizona went 68 yards in eight plays for a touchdown late in the first half. Plummer was 6-for-6 for 61 yards on the drive. Boston leaped high in the air over defender Phillippi Sparks for his first NFL scoring catch.

Brad Daluiso's 42-yard field goal try was wide right with 4:22 to play in New York's only scoring threat of the first half.

Daluiso's 31-yard field goal cut the lead to 14-3 with 10:13 left in the game. New York drove toward another score, converting on a fourth-and-22 situation on a 24-yard pass from Collins to Ike Hilliard to the Arizona 24 with 5 1/2 minutes to play. But the Giants couldn't score. On fourth-and-7 from the Arizona 10, Collins threw the ball away under heavy pressure from a blitzing defense.

Plummer said he was hit in both hips as he scrambled on Arizona's first possession of the second half.

"I'm sure I'll be able to play next week," he said.
