Guilty as charged.

ESPN.com has learned the error of its ways. Hopefully, this week's Power 16 will reflect as much, as we no longer rank teams based on potential, perception, or any other past credentials that seem to just get in the way of a true "snapshot" of the season to date.

But, you have to admit, November has proven any team -- and we mean any team -- can beat any team on the Power 16 on any day of the week. Still, we must be true to the Power 16's basic principles.

So, with that in mind, the Power 16 has gone through quite a makeover from just seven days ago. Then again, two of our No. 1 seeds of a week ago lost at Maui; Duke nearly lost its opener on the same island; Michigan State was swept at MSG; and Memphis dropped its Guardians -- not to mention both its games -- in Kansas City. Meanwhile, Missouri, Syracuse, Oklahoma State and Western Kentucky were simply winning basketball games.

COMMENT We aren't overlooking opener, just looking at how they handled business vs. team that beat Kansas and UCLA. Up Next: Tuesday "Challenge" with Iowa. COMMENT 22-0 in Nov. over the past 5 seasons, and we're talking some wins in places like Maui, Alaska and NYC. Up Next: Cornell & Colgate on Tues. & Thu. Hardest working Power 16 team. Four wins in six days, and the competition wasn't bad either. Up Next: Just two games, and sleep in own beds. What a difference one point makes. But, notice, three teams between you and Tigers haven't lost. Up Next: Just a little date with Duke on Tuesday. Haven't been tested yet. Haven't stumbled yet, either. Something not every ACC contender can say. Up Next: First Challenge? Or first real statement?

COMMENT This is where it gets tricky. Loss is a loss, thus its drop. But, when hydrated, KU was good as advertised. Up Next: Pittsburgh State (Wed.); at Arizona (Sat.) Jacobsen's averaging 22 ppg ... Borchardt grabs 20 rebs on Saturday ... 3 Ws by double-digits. What's not to like? Up Next: Saturday matinee against Longhorns. Beating Delaware State by 24 doesn't impress us. COMMENT Ranked or unranked, Hilltoppers deserved a spot on this list a week ago. So, we're a week late.
