GAME LOG
TORONTO (AP) _ Edgar Martinez reached a milestone in grand fashion. Martinez hit a grand slam for his 200th career homer as the Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 17-6 on Saturday. "When I broke in I never thought I would play this long, so this is nice," Martinez said. "It's not 500 home runs, but it's still something." Martinez, who drove in five runs Friday, homered off Pedro Borbon to give Seattle a 10-4 lead in the sixth inning. John Mabry and Mark McLemore also homered for the Mariners, who have won seven straight against the Blue Jays. There have been 22 homers in six games at SkyDome this season. "The ball is jumping out of here like I've never seen before," Blue Jays manager Jim Fregosi said. "Everything in this game revolves around hitting now. Nothing favors the pitcher. I just don't think strikes are being called these days. "I'm not blaming the umpire for the loss, but these National League umpires haven't seen many of these pitchers, and they don't know them." Kerwin Danley, a former National League umpire, worked the game. This season, both AL and NL umpires are integrated. "He didn't call strikes all day," said Fregosi, who had a heated exchange with Danley in the fourth inning. Seattle jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Roy Halladay (1-2) on Alex Rodriguez's two-run double and John Olerud's RBI single. Toronto went ahead with four runs in the third inning on Marty Cordova's RBI groundout, Raul Mondesi's RBI single and Tony Batista's two-run double. Mabry and McLemore homered in the fourth to give Seattle a 5-4 lead. The Mariners scored five times in the sixth. Mike Cameron led off with a double off Paul Quantrill. After McLemore singled, Stan Javier followed with sacrifice fly. Quantrill left after walking Rodriguez. Borbon then loaded the bases by walking Olerud. Martinez followed with his shot just over the wall in left center. Frankie Rodriguez (1-0) pitched 3 1-3 innings for the win. He allowed one run and three hits. Halladay gave up five runs on nine hits in four innings. Mondesi's seventh-inning homer into the fourth deck of SkyDome made it 11-6. The Mariners added six runs in the ninth inning, keyed by Olerud's bases-loaded double. Notes: Toronto's Shannon Stewart pulled his right hamstring while sliding into third base in first inning. He left the game and is day-to-day. ... Rookie Dewayne Wise, who replaced Stewart, singled in the third inning for his first major league hit. ... Mondesi hit his first career homer at SkyDome. ... Mondesi has two homers this season. ... This is Martinez's 12th season in the majors.
