BOX SCORE
PHOENIX (AP) _ Matt Clement threw four shutout innings and Tony Gwynn hit an RBI single as the San Diego Padres beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 on Sunday. Clement, who signed a four-year, $8.25 million contract during the first week of camp, allowed two hits and did not walk a batter in his longest outing of the spring. He struck out two and faced just 13 batters _ one more than the minimum. Donne Wall, Trevor Hoffmann, Stan Spencer and Kevin Walker (first save) finished the shutout for San Diego. John Roskos added a solo homer for the Padres. The Brewers had just four hits in the game, all singles, and one walk. Milwaukee starter Jeff D'Amico, coming off two injury-plagued seasons in which he threw a total of one inning, allowed the run-scoring hit to Gwynn in the first inning before settling down. He was charged with his first loss of the spring.
