TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Bubba Carpenter homered and Terry Shumpert drove in three runs as the Colorado Rockies opened their exhibition schedule with a 10-1 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Brent Mayne had two of Colorado's 10 hits as the Rockies pounded five Arizona pitchers. They scored seven runs in the fourth inning to break open the game.

Mike Morgan took the loss allowing an unearned run and two hits over two innings. Nick Bierbrodt, 21, was bombed for seven runs and five hits while recording just four outs.

Jay Bell homered for the Diamondbacks, who were held to four hits.

Brian Bohanon picked up the win, tossing two scoreless innings.
