SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Guard Janeth Arcan picked up a wayward rebound and sank a 16-foot jumper with one second to play to lift the Houston Comets to a 73-71 victory over the Utah Starzz on Saturday night. Utah had tied the game with nine seconds to play as rookie point guard Stacy Frese swished a three-pointer. But after a Houston time-out, Arcain converted Cynthia Cooper's missed driving layup into a game winner for Houston. Sheryl Swoopes led the 6-1 winners with 22 points, nearly three shy of her 24.8-point average, which ranks second in the Women's National Basketball Association. Forward teammate Tina Thompson added 18 points and held Olympian Natalie Williams in check. Williams led Utah with 17 points, but had just 13 head-up with Thompson. Adrienne Goodson added 15 points for the Starzz. Utah slipped to 3-3 for the season and is 1-12 against the Comets in four seasons. Utah held a 35-26 rebounding edge and rallied from a 12-point first-half deficit to go up by as many as six points, 64-58, in the second half when there were six leading changes. But the Starzz's 18 turnovers led to 15 Comet points and their undoing. The teams met again Monday night in Houston. | ALSO SEE WNBA Scoreboard RECAPS Los Angeles 76 Phoenix 57
