| DENVER -- The Colorado Rapids got the person they wanted in
Sunday's draft of college and supplemental players: goalkeeper Adin
Brown.
The Rapids selected Brown of William & Mary with the third pick after a trade with Dallas that moved them up in the drafting order. Colorado sent the fifth pick in the first round and a No. 1 draft
pick next year to Dallas to move up two notches.
"Adin Brown has a terrific pedigree in soccer," said coach
Glenn Myernick. "He was thought of here as the player in the draft
most likely to make it as a pro."
Brown also played on the U.S Olympic team.
The Rapids also traded disgruntled forward Wolde Harris and the 31st pick in Sunday's draft to New England for the 10th and 26th picks. In turn, they took defender Alan Woods out of Clemson with the 10th pick and forward Jeff DiMaria of Saint Louis University
with the 26th.
The Rapids also selected midfielder Wes Hart from the University of Washington and Columbine High School with the seventh pick overall.
"We had our priorities in the goal and in adding some speed and height to our team," Myernick said. "We absolutely had no
disappointments in the draft.
The Rapids begin practice this week in Florida.
