  RECAP | BOX SCORE

BOSTON (AP) -- First, Andrew Raycroft was denied a chance at his first NHL shutout. Then, the Boston Bruins rookie goaltender watched the win slip away.

Mats Sundin's overtime goal led the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 victory over the Bruins on Saturday night, handing Mike Keenan his first loss as coach. Sundin scored 3:36 into overtime on a backhander, after circling the net and beating Raycroft.

"We showed a lot of character and attitude coming back tonight," Sundin said. "Igor (Korolev) scored a big goal and gave us a little momentum to win the game."

Raycroft, who was bidding for his first career shutout in his eighth NHL start, was finally scored upon when Korolev's wrist shot tied it with 2:45 left in regulation.

"It's a lot more disappointing not to get the win," Raycroft said. "The shutout is secondary. We played great for 55 minutes, and then they stepped it up a notch."

Jason Allison gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal 45 seconds into the second period. Allison rebounded Darren Van Impe's slap shot from inside the point and beat Maple Leafs goalie Curtis Joseph.

Allison has a league-leading 12 power-play points.

"We played well, but I thought we sat back a little in the last 10 minutes," Allison said. "You learn from your mistakes. It cost us."

Joseph had 27 saves for the Leafs, while Raycroft stopped 18 shots for the Bruins. Leading up to Korolev's goal, the Leafs had scored one goal in the last five periods.

"I can't worry about things that I can't control," Joseph said. "I try to go out and play my game and concentrate on keeping the team in the game."

Toronto was playing its third game in four nights, and is 1-1 on its three-game road trip.

"The goaltending has been excellent, especially lately," Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn said. "We are still out of whack, though, and are not a very good team right now."

The Bruins, who played without top defenseman Kyle McLaren (knee) for the second straight game, lost their first home game of the season.
