OMIYA, Japan (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins rallied with three third-period goals to beat the Nashville Predators 3-1 Sunday and earn a split in their two-game, season-opening series in Japan. Robert Lang scored on the power play at 6:44 and Martin Straka put Pittsburgh in front nearly 10 minutes later. Jan Hrdina sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, his second tally of the series, with 39.2 seconds left. Straka's goal came from a tough angle to the right of Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun. Lang sent a backhand pass from behind the net to Straka, who put a shot on net. The puck hit Vokoun's knee and found its way inside the right post. Vokoun made 38 saves. Jaromir Jagr assisted on the first and third Penguins goals as Pittsburgh matched Nashville's 3-1 victory on Saturday. Jean-Sebastien Aubin stopped 21 shots. Vokoun kept Nashville in the game for as long as he could, thwarting quality scoring chances by the Penguins. In the final half of the second period, Matthew Barnaby came in from the blue line on a breakaway, but Vokoun denied him with a chest save. In the third period, the Penguins' Kip Miller slammed the puck toward the goal from the faceoff circle, but Vokoun caught it between his pads. Nashville's David Legwand opened the scoring just 5:08 in. Taking Scott Walker's pass from the left circle, he one-timed a shot through Aubin's legs. | ALSO SEE NHL Scoreboard Pittsburgh Clubhouse Nashville Clubhouse RECAPS NY Rangers 2 Atlanta 1
