EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) _ Brian Savage scored with less than three minutes remaining in the third period to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-3 preseason win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night. After a scoreless first period, Oilers forward Ryan Smyth got the game's first goal _ his first of the preseason after signing a three-year contract Saturday _ at 5:06 of the second period. Oleg Petrov scored twice for the Canadiens (2-3-1), who also got goals from P.J. Stock and Francois Bouillon. The loss ended a three-game preseason winning streak for Edmonton (3-2-0). Montreal rookie defenseman Andrei Markov assisted on Stock's goal, giving him seven points in four exhibition games. Todd Marchant and Doug Weight also scored for Edmonton, which has four shorthanded goals this preseason.
