KANATA, Ontario (Ticker) -- Viacheslav Butsayev and Kevin Miller scored on the power play during a three-goal first period as the Ottawa Senators continued their strong exhibition play with a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Marian Hossa added a goal and an assist for Ottawa, which improved to 5-1-0 in the preseason.

Patrick Lalime, who is battling for the backup job behind Ron Tugnutt, has won all four decisions in the exhibition season.

Butsayev opened the scoring 3:30 into the game and Miller tallied with 7:04 left in the period. Kevin Dineen's first preseason goal made it 3-0 with 17 seconds left.

Alexander Mogilny scored a goal and set up another for Vancouver, which remained winless (0-4-2). The Canucks rested captain Mark Messier and left wing Markus Naslund.

Garth Snow gave up five goals on 24 shots over the first two periods before rookie Christian Bronsard stopped all eight shots in the final 20 minutes.
