SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Dave Lowry made his case for a roster spot with a pair of third-period goals, including the tying tally with 2:05 remaining, as the San Jose Sharks rallied for a 4-4 exhibition deadlock with the Colorado Avalanche.

A 14-year veteran, Lowry is an unrestricted free agent trying to earn a contract. He lifted the unbeaten Sharks into a 3-3 tie with 5:12 to play, but rookie Brian Willsie's second goal of the game put Colorado in front 33 seconds later.

Lowry struck again at 17:55, getting to a loose puck in the slot and lifting a shot over goaltender Marc Denis' left shoulder.

Mike Ricci also scored in the third period for San Jose (2-0-3), one of four unbeaten teams in the preseason.

Chris Drury also scored twice for the Avalanche, notching a pair of power-play goals. With Patrick Roy still recovering from hip surgery, Denis made 28 saves.
