DAVIE, Fla. -- Injuries have hobbled the Miami Dolphins offensive and defensive lines this season, and now their top receiver might miss Saturday's playoff game at Denver.
O.J. McDuffie, who led the NFL in catches, was one of three
starters to miss practice Tuesday.
McDuffie sprained his right foot in Saturday's victory over the Buffalo Bills. Tight end Troy Drayton (sprained ankle) and tackle Richmond Webb (arm) also missed practice. The Dolphins also lost defensive tackle Tim Bowens on Saturday to a season-ending biceps injury.
McDuffie had 90 receptions this season for 1,050 yards and seven touchdowns. He hasn't missed a game since 1994.
"He's been as fine a clutch receiver as I've been around," Johnson said. "It would be significant if he's not able to go, and
it will affect us if he's not able to go full speed."
Despite the injuries, Johnson was in a jovial mood following the Dolphins' practice in 55-degree weather.
"The positive thing is we've got this cold weather, so it's preparing us a little more for Denver," he said.
After Miami beat the Broncos 31-21 last month, Denver tight end Shannon Sharpe said his team was 10 to 14 points better than the Dolphins. Oddsmakers agree, listing the Broncos as 13-point
favorites.
"A couple of touchdowns and building," Johnson said. "Evidently the oddsmakers are listening to Shannon Sharpe."
