Robinson scored 24 of his season-high 32 points in the second
half as the Bucks beat the Utah Jazz 111-102 on Wednesday night.
"We brought our confidence to this game and now we are finally rolling a little bit," said Milwaukee head coach George Karl, whose team has won five of its last six games.
"I felt it was my turn, so I turned my game up," said Glenn
Robinson, who outscored the Jazz 13-8 in the last 3:40 of the third
quarter.
"Glenn put on a show there to get us the lead back. He was
about as good as it gets in that stretch," Karl said.
The Bucks squelched every Jazz rally in the fourth quarter.
Utah pulled within five at 95-90 with 3:29 to play, but Allen's
jumper sparked a 5-0 run to make it 100-90 with 2:22 to play.
John Stockton made a 3-pointer to trim the lead to 102-96 with 1:09 left, but Allen answered with a 3-pointer to help seal the win.
Karl Malone led Utah with 35 points. Stockton had 16 points and
recorded his 14,000th career assist in the final minute. The Jazz
have lost two straight games to finish 3-2 on their five-game
homestand. They now begin a six-game road trip.
Milwaukee improved to 11-11, the first time it has been at the
.500 mark this season.
In a physical game that included 61 fouls, the Bucks made 40 of
42 free throws and scored 62 points in the second half. Robinson
made all nine of his foul shots and added nine rebounds as the
Bucks won for the second time in a row in Salt Lake City after
losing nine straight to the Jazz on the road.
Bryon Russell scored 17 points for Utah but was unable to slow
Robinson and Allen.
The Jazz, who trailed at halftime, used an 11-4 run to regain
the lead, 66-65, with 4:00 left in the third quarter before
Robinson led the Bucks back in front.
"They were hot and made their shots and we didn't do a good job
on defense. We lost the enthusiasm we had during our comeback in
the third quarter," said Stockton, who finished with nine assists.
Following their biggest win of the year Tuesday night at Los
Angeles, the Bucks needed more than five minutes to get their
second field goal and trailed the Jazz by five early.
An 8-0 run in the second quarter pushed Milwaukee to a 45-32
lead with 3:29 left. The Bucks led 49-41 at halftime.
"I don't know how many teams could do what we just did the last
two nights. I'm excited and hopeful that this can continue," Karl
said.
Game notes Utah had a 9-0 record against teams with losing records
entering this game. ... Malone has averaged over 36 points in the
last five games against the Bucks. ... John Starks is 1-for-12 from the field in the last two games. ... Utah is 9-4 at home and 7-2 on the road.
