MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Rasheed Wallace had 18 points, eight rebounds
and five assists as the Portland Trail Blazers capped their longest
road trip in 22 seasons with a 93-84 victory over Milwaukee on
Wednesday night. Steve Smith added 12 points to help Portland to its third
straight victory. The Trail Blazers finished the 10-day trip with a
5-2 record. Glenn Robinson had 20 points for Milwaukee and Ray Allen had 19. Portland was 19-of-20 from the free throw line while the Bucks
were 11-of-19. Reserve Rafer Alston had a season-high 12 points, including a
layup and a three-point play as the Bucks scored the first eight
points of the fourth quarter and pulled to 77-71 with 10:10 left.
But Bonzi Wells dunked and Shawn Kemp hit a 17-footer to put the
Blazers back up by 10. The Blazers never let the lead slip below five points in the
fourth. In the third quarter, the Bucks cut the lead to four on a
3-pointer by Alston, but Portland closed out the quarter with a
10-0 run to regain momentum and led 77-63 heading into the fourth.
Arvydas Sabonis keyed the surge with two baskets and two free
throws. Portland hit its first four shots and led by as many as 15
points en route to a 54-47 halftime lead behind Wallace's 12 points
and Greg Anthony's 10. The Bucks stayed close, despite shooting
19-of-44, thanks to Allen's 13 points and 12 from Tim Thomas. Notes: Sam Cassell has a strained left knee and missed the game.
The Bucks guard is day-to-day. ... Portland outrebounded the Bucks
23-14 in the first half. ... The Bucks haven't found a replacement
power forward for Scott Williams, who is out with back spasms. ...
Milwaukee's Jason Caffey made his second start and first since the
opening game.
