Pop Secret 400 Finish: 4th Place Points: 4,772 (246-point lead) What can you say about Jarrett? Raced to win, led the most laps, but still came away from The Rock without a victory. Big picture now looks like this: Finish 19th or better in final four races and championship is his. He can clinch the title two weeks from now in Phoenix by adding 126 points to his lead. But aren't we really just awaiting the inevitable?
Pop Secret 400 Finish: 3rd Place Points: 4,526 | vs. Jarrett at Rockingham: even Really didn't expect to finish where he did, but made the right calls down the stretch to finish ahead of Jarrett. But even when he beats the points leader on the track, he can't make up a point. Team seems satisfied with its season, however, considering the misfortunes it's overcome.
Pop Secret 400 Finish: 6th Place Points: 4,438 | vs. Jarrett at Rockingham: -15 Dominated at The Rock all weekend -- until it mattered most. Swept the poles Friday, won the Busch race Saturday, but never really challenged Jarrett early or Burton late on Sunday. Battled his way up to sixth place after dropping to as low as 10th in the second half of the race.
Pop Secret 400 Finish: 11th Place Points: 4,298 | vs. Jarrett at Rockingham: -40 points May have had the worse day on tires of any in the top five. Was down a lap early and never made it up. After sweeping at the Rock last year and clinching his second-straight points title, he was first to admit the championship race is over this year.
Pop Secret 400 Finish: 12th Place Points: 4,286 | vs. Jarrett at Rockingham: -20 points Well, he's at least consistent at The Rock, finishing 12th for the second time in as many NASCAR starts. Like Gordon, an ill-handling car never let him challenge for the lead and he was down a lap before he knew it. Burton's win leaves him just 43 points out of fifth place.
