Dokic's struggles continue in Indonesia

BALI, Indonesia -- Fourth seed Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia was upset, and fifth seed Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand was an easy winner Tuesday in the first round of the $225,000 Wismilak International.

Jelena Dokic has not won consecutive matches since Wimbledon.
Italy's Tathiana Garbin defeated the struggling Dokic 7-5, 6-3, while Tanasugarn rolled past Nicole Pratt of Australia 6-0, 6-0, for her first career "double bagel."

Dokic has not won two straight matches since the first two rounds at Wimbledon.

No. 7 Emilie Loit of France was ousted by Croatian qualifier Ivana Abramovic 6-7 (4), 5-7.

In other matches, Emmanuelle Gagliardi of Switzerland bounced American wild card entry Corina Morariu 6-4, 6-3, and Chinese qualifier Jie Zheng eliminated Italy's Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 6-2.

Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany ousted qualifier Tian Tian Sun of China 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1, and will meet second seed Elena Dementieva of Russia in the second round.

Maria Sanchez Lorenzo of Spain was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over American Sarah Taylor. Sanchez Lorenzo next faces another American in top seed Chanda Rubin, who along with Dementieva received a first-round bye.

The winner collects $35,000 and 145 points toward the rankings.
