KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Mo Johnston scored in the sixth minute as the Kansas City Wizards shut out Tampa Bay 1-0 Saturday night to improve Major League Soccer's best record to 5-0-1.

Johnston put Kansas City (5-0-1) ahead after taking a restart from Matt McKeon, who lofted a long pass over the Mutiny defense. Johnston went across the box and fired the ball past goalie Scott Garlick and into the far corner of the net.

Wizards goalie Tony Meola registered his league-best fourth shutout.

The Mutiny (3-3-0) are scoreless in 270 minutes of away play, the longest road scoreless streak in team history.

Kalin Bankov had Tampa Bay's only shot on goal in the first half.

Trying to spark his team's offense, Mutiny coach Tim Hankinson benched Raul Diaz Arce and Dominic Kinnear in favor of Manny Lagos and Eric Quill in the second half.
